Book Banners

So the Queen of right wing mudslinging, Matt Drudge breaks the story that Jim Webbs novels have adult content! My word Webb's novels deal with the Vietnam war, they are not children's stories. This is an absolute desperate measure by Allen to smear Webb. I would remind Felix Allen that when he was drinking bourbon and culturing his racism, Jim Webb was a combat Marine who was highly decorated. What a complete nonstory.

Semantics

So yesterday White House Press Secretary Lurch, I mean Tony Snow announces that the administration will no longer use the term "stay the course." Today they announce that they will begin using "benchmarks" to decide when to pull out US forces, but don't worry neocons "benchmarks" are not the same as timetables which the party of cut and run has proposed. Face it Schrub your fucked, let the Iraqis fight their own civil war. You ain't foolin anyone with your semantics game, the neocons have lost, you backed the wrong side.

El Rushbo

So this fat tub of shit goes on his show and lambasts Michael J. Fox for doing commercials in favor of stem cell research to cure Parkinson's, Fattie claims that he was "acting" and had not taken his medication before the shoot. Well we all know that Rushie knows his medication. Jim over at http://majorconflict.blogspot.com/ has a great post about this and the Fox ad so you can see for yourself what a mean spirited jerkoff Limbaugh is. Saying you disagree with Fox is one thing, making fun of his condition is quite another. What will you do for an encore Rush? How about making fun of Stevie Wonder being blind or Sheryl Crow's breast cancer? How can these right wing zombies listen to this clowns drivel? The so called voice of conservatives who is a lying drug addict and who goes on sex junkets to the Dominican Republic and then gets busted with enough Viagra to kill a goat. He certainly seems like an upstanding righteous conservative to me.

Series Time

Well the October classic is upon us and as an American League fan, Baltimore Orioles in fact, I have to pull for the Tigers. Justin Verlander is also a local Richmond boy so you gotta wish them luck, but man he stunk up game one, pitching to Pujols? I saw him pitch in May when I was in Seattle and they looked good then, I hope they have the juice to take down the Cards.

Obama

Damn, I've liked this guy since he gave the keynote speech at the convention in 04, but man I saw him on meet the press today and this guy is absolute Presidential material. The guy is smart, he's a pragmatist, and not an idealogue. I'm thinking maybe he is trolling for a VP nod. I think he should run, it would be good for the party and good for the country, he sure as hell impressed me today.

Light Blogging

Sporadic blogging for the next few weeks, This is my busy time of the year for work and I am getting married to a wonderful woman November 11th. Still should be time for some pre and post election analysis and musings. Going into the home stretch I still feel that Democrats have the momentum and we will certainly win the House, Senate will be close but I am confident that we will win. get out and vote folks!

Time To Head Back To Blighty

So this fellow, General Sir Richard Dannett, who is the top man in the British Army has said publically that it is past time to pull out the ramaining 8000 or so British troops in Southern Iraq. He says that their continued presence is only inflaming the violence there and is serving no real purpose other than killing and injuring British troops. The General still supports the now NATO led mission in Afghanistan as do I. Blair has to see that the writing is on the wall. He has already been forced out of Downing Street early, why not just send his boys home? I once truly respected and admired Blair and his New Labour party, but that was pretty much shattered by his slavish devotion to W's Iraq debacle. What a shame.

Warner I and II

First the good news, Senator John Warner has gone on the record saying that W's Iraq policy is a failure and a radical change is needed, Warner has been an unfailing supporter of the war and as Chairman of the armed services Committee he has a lot of pull, when a man like this goes off the reservation you know the writing is on the wall. Now for some disappointing news.
My former Governor Mark Warner today announced that he will not be running for President. This is bad news for Democrats of the moderate persuasion. I guess he just figured that the Hillary fundraising machine was too daunting. Too bad he was a great Governor and a really decent guy.

The Nietzsche Family Circus

The Nietzsche Family Circus This site is the funniest/creepiest thing I have seen in a long time, it randomly generates a Family Circus cartoon with a randomly generated Nietzsche quote, hours of fun!

66

So yesterday would have been John Lennons 66th birthday. I only wonder how many more amazing albums the man had in him, before that fat piece of shit Mark David Chapman shot him. Now I see that someone is making a movie about Chapman with Jared Leto playing him, I saw a pic and he looks just like the bastard. Screw that, why make a movie about the guy who killed one half of the best songwriting duos in history and a man of peace?

WMDS

Well after ignoring North Korea for the past six years, they have finally exploded a nuke. Kims regime has its back to the wall and now there goes the neighborhood. Japan could have a nuclear device in like 30 minutes if they wanted, and China is going to have to act as some kind of broker here to resolve this. Clinton had ongoing 3rd party talks with these jokers and as long as we kept sending food aid and such, things stayed quiet. W and co. by "getting tough" and pulling out of diplomatic talks have forced Kims hand and who knows who he is going to sell his scientists and technology to? This is a clear and deadly threat to us and our allies. We must lean on the Chinese to persuade Kim to back off here. I'm sure glad we invaded Iraq though!

Time To Go Jabba!

Is it just me or is Denny Hastert starting to look more like Jabba the Hut every day. Methinks the hue and cry for his resignation of the Speakership is growing louder. This is the prick who sponsered the internet gambling ban, so I can't throw down a c-note on the Skins vs. Dallas because its morally wrong, but the Speaker has known since 2003 that he has a pedophile in his ranks who is breaking the law with male pages and thats allright. The sheer hypocrisy of these people is stunning. I actually hope he does keep his job, because the GOP could regain some integrity if they canned his fat ass, by keeping him on, the scandal just keeps growing.

Marriage

So in my beloved Commonwealth this Nov. the GOP has managed to get a referendum on gay marriage. It is worded in a cumbersome way that may scare some older voters that marriage is going to be abolished if they don't vote to uphold it. I can't believe that something like this is on my ballot, it's like asking the voters to decide if interracial couples should get hitched. If two people want to get married what business is it of the state? Virginia is a fairly conservative state, so this thing will probally go through, but our kids and grandkids will look upon this the way I look at my parents attending segregated high schools. A strange relic of a time when US citizens were willfully denied their civil rights.

Fun With Pedophile Congressmen

I stole this from Austin Cline, what an absolute classic.

Oh Chubby

So in the course of my travels today I was scanning right-wing talk radio and I cought this moron droning about the hypocrisy of the Dems in their treatment of Rep. Foley, how we are "politicising" this issue for partisan gain. Are you kidding,? What could be more hypocritical than a pedophile chairing the house committee for missing and exploited children? The fact of the matter is I would have just chalked this up to another sleazeball in the Congress if it had not been revealed that House leadership covered this up. That will be the issue that hurts the GOP the most, the family values crowd may well sit this one out, or at least not make a monetary contribution to the party. If this had been a Dem I wonder if the pill-popper would have turned it into a partisan issue?

Fight For Old DC!

So my Redskins looked pretty good against a fairly strong Jacksonville squad. Nice job by Brunell and the receivers and Portis, the defense looked a bit shaky at times, hopefully that will be remedied as we get to the meaty part of the schedule with Philly, Giants, and Dallas again.
